Loughrigg Silver Howe “Race” Results Sun 24th Feb 2019
Thank you for coming out to play this morning on a stunning and unseasonably warm and sunny Lakeland day. 23 set out and 23 returned with the seasoned, experienced runners generally showing the youngsters clean heels…and which way to go in several cases!
It’s a great race, full of history and the outcome is always dependent upon knowing the best lines or backing a good horse for a follow.
For me, it’s just a pleasure to see friends old and new, from different clubs, enjoying themselves. Thanks to Chris Hodgson for his help on the finish, to Cath for her fantastic action pics (on the club’s FB page), to new member James H who brought cakes to share (Ambleside lad for sure!) and to everyone who supported it. Maybe in future years, I’ll put it out there again like I used to under full FRA rules as I know it’s popular. However, the purist fell runner in me quite likes the Old Skool, take responsibility for yerself, rock up and run vibe!
Next stop: Loughrigg Orienteering Event. 1 hour score on a Tues night in the Easter hols (date tbc).
