Parking

Unfortunately this year we have lost our usual car park in Hodge Close Quarry. After a full week of investigating potential replacements with no positive results, and discovering (again) that that there is no flat field within a mile of Race Assembly, we have an agreement to use one of Steven Dugdale’s fields at Tilberthwaite Farm, which sadly means you’ll be walking 30 minutes to the Start rather than 20. The only alternative would have been to cancel the race, but of course being fellrunners we dont give up! The good news is that the route, though off road, is flat and cycle friendly – why not bring a bike? You’ll be directed to the car park from the Ambleside – Coniston road: please have £3 ready to pay at the gate.

Leave plenty of time to get to Registration and the Start!  And please dont be tempted to park elsewhere in the valley – the future of the event hangs on us not clogging the valley up for the locals.

Many thanks, the Wright family.’

You should not enter these fells unless you have the appropriate navigation and mountain craft skills and equipment. If you aren’t sure what that means then please don’t enter you may be putting yourself at risk.

The race is run under FRA Rules and we will check that the following minimum kit is carried:- MAP, COMPASS, WHISTLE, FULL WET WEATHER COVER, HAT AND GLOVES. Emergency rations are advised.
