Sunday Mornings

In the winter we organise a Club run on the first or second Sunday of each month. The details for these runs will be published on the Club Calendar or Teamup App.

Sunday Club runs are not ‘guided runs’ as such, so you will be expected to be able to look after yourself in the respect of having the right kit & clothing with you and some experience of running in winter. There are usually 3 groups heading out (fast / medium / chatty) and a club member will usually take responsibility for route choice, navigation and for making sure nobody is left behind. These runs are good for gaining confidence in running on the fells in winter, so you are then able to head out by yourself when you feel comfortable to do so. Or just for having a good old blast on the hills with your mates of course!

Winter kit: it can be cold up on the hills. Very cold! There is no fixed kit list to bring with you but the following should all be considered in addition to what you usally wear to run in:

– full waterproofs, spare long-sleeve top, hat, warm gloves, buff / neck warmer, headtorch, compass, whistle, survival blanket / bag, emergency food. In in doubt, err on the generous side and carry it. Accidents do happen and if they do you’ll be glad you’ve got it with you rather than your kit be left inside your car boot.

In addition to our organised Winter runs, there are usually members running most weekends if they are not racing, and many make informal arrangements to run together via club WhatsApp or facebook groups.
