For many, this popular early season evening race heralds the start of Summer. A four mile out and back blast from Rothay Park in Ambleside, this race packs a lot into its short length.
The race starts with a mad dash for the bridge and the exit out of the park. Over the cattle grid and on to the steep climb up the tarmac road which soon levels out and gives way to gravel track. Continuing to gradually climb, you will pass through 2 gates on the bridleway before reaching the final gate and a sharp right turn on to the fell proper. From here the route has a few short sharp climbs interspersed with some fast runnable stretches before the last pull up a pitched path and into the summits view. From here its a quick crawl up the crag to the summit cairn before retracing your steps all the way back to Rothay Park.
Please read the FRA safety requirements here before you enter.
