Club Championships 2016

None of the races clash with British or English championships, and they are all fairly local, so it’d be great to see a good turn out of club members competing this year.  The only race which is pre-entry is the Anniversary Waltz, the rest are entry on the day.  Some are races we organize, so if you aren’t racing, please help out instead.

Ta, Jim :-)

Any 4 races from the 7 below to count.

Sun 20th March: Carrock Fell (short)  11am, enter on the day

A new race organised by new club, Northern Fell Running Club. It’s always good to support new races, and it would be great to see a good turnout at the first club champs race, a week on from Black Combe where you’ll have course got your racing legs in gear.

Sat 16th April: 20th Anniversary Waltz (medium) 11.30am, pre-entry

The first of three races in the club champs which is celebrating an anniversary this year (a vague theme I’ve tried to weave in!), and also a classic medium course. Get your entry secured online:  http://www.anniversarywaltz.co.uk/

Sat 14th May: 50th Fairfield Horseshoe  (medium) 12noon, enter on the day

Another classic race celebrating a significant anniversary this year- and they don’t come more classic than this. An Ambleside AC organised race, so help out if you aren’t racing, and even if you are- John could always do with some help at the start.

Sun 29th May: Helvellyn & the Dodds (long) 12noon, enter on the day

One of Kenny Stuart’s training runs and a sizeable chunk of the Bob Graham leg 2, there is a lot of fast running to be had over the Dodds in this out and back race, an unexpected amount of climb on the way back, and erm… Clough Head which hurts in either direction.

Wed 20th July: 30th Blisco Dash (short) 7pm enter on day

The third anniversary themed race, and another Ambleside AC one. Selwyn is threatening to run it this year (as in race it!), so he needs someone to help organise the finish as well as the usual plea for marshals and helpers from the club.

Sat 3rd Sept: Grisedale Horseshoe (medium) 11.30am, enter on the day

The toughest 10 mile horseshoe in Lakeland? One tough medium, that’s for sure- this race has it all. Plus superb cakes and sandwiches in the village hall afterwards!

Sat 12th Nov: Dunnerdale (short) 12 noon, enter on the day

It’s now tradition to end the season with this gem of a short race. Like a classic Lakeland horseshoe in miniature, it asks a lot of the legs over it’s varied 5 miles. Good pies too…

Have fun racing!
