‘April In Ambleside’ 4th April 2020
“April in Ambleside” event 4 April 2020
(previously “Spring in Lakeland”)
Brilliant 23 mile running event starting from Parish Centre, Ambleside!
Several Ambleside runners did this event last year, as in previous years, when it had the title of “Spring in Lakeland.”
The 2020 event will happen on 4 April and is now called “April in Ambleside” to differentiate it from the (entirely different and new) “Spring in Lakeland 50 miles” event on 18 April which starts from Staveley.
Confused? Don’t be! All you need to know is that if you enjoyed running “Spring in Lakeland” or thought about doing it in the past you should enter “April in Ambleside” next April 4th.
It’s a great training course for fell runners and trail runners alike, as well as an amazing day out. Last year’s winner was Jose Juan-Colas of Spain in a time of 3hrs 14.
The event follows a scenic route, with 4400ft of ascent, via Loughrigg Tarn, Skelwith Bridge, High Tilberthwaite, Coniston and Tarn Hows then Cumbria Way back to Ambleside. There are three checkpoints, all providing refreshments, one self-clip checkpoint, and we also provide a light meal at the end. Start time is 08.00 and the entry fee is set this year at £15, entries are limited to 250.
AAC members Richard Tait and Karen Goodyear are event organisers for the third year and all the detail is on https://www.sientries.co.uk/
An especially warm welcome to Ambleside runners!
