Langdale Gala Fell Race 2017
Walthwaite Meadow, Chapel Stile

A very short, very steep scramble up the western slopes of Silver How as far as Spedding Crag, along the ridge and right back down again. 1.9km with 178 metres of ascent.

Junior races (free race entry) from approximately 14:30 with the seniors (£2 race entry) at approx 15:55. Gala entry fee applies to all competitors. The Gala has a wide range of attractions in addition to the fell races, including children’s flat races, Cumberland & Westmorland wrestling, local crafts, food & drink and more.

15:55(approx) Senior race. 1.90km with 178m of ascent
Small prizes will be awarded from 16:30 for 1st, 2nd & 3rd man & lady, with 1st man & lady receiving a trophy from the Gala Queen. Please note trophies are owned by the Gala and must be returned in time for next year’s race, thank you.
All races held under FRA rules. Senior runner category is for runners aged 19 or over on Dec 31st 2017 in accordance with FRA rules. All races involve steep, loose terrain. Courses are fully flagged and marshalled. All competitors must assess that they are fit & able to participate safely in this event. All competitors enter at their own risk and agree to abide by the FRA’s Requirements for Runners, a copy of which will be on display at the race organiser’s tent and which can be viewed in advance at the FRA’s website (http://www.fellrunner.org.uk/
All competitors must bring, and be prepared to carry, suitable fell running clothing including waterproof full body cover, hat & gloves. These requirements may be relaxed on the day at the sole discretion of the race organiser.
