Wednesday
5th April
2006
This popular race, last ran in 2000, will return
unchanged this coming April. It follows an out and back
course from Ambleside to the summit of Loughrigg, a
total distance of 4 miles with 1000 feet of climbing.
The race will start in Millans Park (behind the church)
in Ambleside at 7pm on Wednesday April 5th - GR 374044.
Please park on the main car park in the village and walk
to the start which is 5 minutes away. Entry on the night
only.
The course will follow the large track up to the final
fell gate. It will then be flagged to the summit where
it returns by the same route. The records are 27.19 by
John Hooson in 1995 and 33.47 by Lynn Thompson in 1997.
The cost will be £3 and the minimum age is 15, not the
16 it says in the calendar. Prize giving will hopefully
be as near to 8pm as possible.
If anyone is
unable to run at Loughrigg but can give up an hour or so
to help out, I would really appreciate it. I’m
particularly needing someone with first hand experience
of the sticky labels system! Contact me by phone or
email to offer services.
