Congratulations to John Fleetwood as he gained another club trophy in his first year of club membership. And this follows hot on the heels of his latest epic long distance challenge: a winter Paddy Buckley rounds (Welsh equivalent of the Bob Graham) completed just three days beforehand.

Cath was a fine second and fastest lady up the tough 3 mile course. Fastest was Paul Knowles who managed to make it unscathed to the top despite forgetting his torch. Added interest was provided in the form of two challengers on mountain bikes. No doubt they would have the edge on the descent but unfortunately for them it is an uphill only race and when going up, two legs, it seems, are superior to two wheels.

Thanks to Phil Craker for organising the race and to his timing assistant Ken Dacre. The post-run sandwiches were soon polished off at the Golden Rule whilst John was presented with his trophy cup.

Weather: mild, dry, southerly (following) wind.

Paul
