Calling
all ladies… DUNNERDALE…those little, tricky hills
beckon you…
by Jane Reedy
Thank you and well done to all this
year.
I think we’ve done brilliantly, lots
of individual top efforts (Britta’s BG, Cath doing
Fairfield and Windermere marathon in a weekend-to name a
few), and as a team, managing to get teams out for both
the Ian Hodgson relay (we were 5th!) and the
FRA relays (they have us down as 16th I
think, but this can’t be right as Todmorden didn’t
finish, so not sure, there were 31 ladies teams
though!).
It’s been great to see our numbers
growing too, a big welcome to all new members.
Let’s go for it at Dunnerdale
and get as many ladies out as possible, it’s a great
little race for those who haven’t done it. Saturday 3rd
November, 12 noon at the Blacksmiths Arms, Broughton
Mills. Entries on the day. 5 miles, 1800 feet of ascent.
If you fancy a curry in Kendal in the evening, 7-7.30pm
at Mumbai then please let me know.
It would be great to know people’s
ideas for next year, I know it’s a way off but it’s good
to have something to focus on/look forward to over these
winter months. I really think we could do well as a team
if folk are keen.
Possible ideas:
-
The
English Champs – (see FRA website for further
details, next years races would be; Black Coombe, 3
peaks, Blackstone Edge, Kentmere, Borrowdale, Dufton)
-
The
British champs (we would have to be prepared to
travel!)
-
The
Lakeland Classics (see FRA website)
-
The
AAC championship races (as individuals, but would
mean lots of us out/at local races)
-
Some
road/ trail races over the winter, any
ideas/dates/events?
-
Something else e.g. a race abroad, bagsie not
organising it though!
Thanks for being such a great bunch!
Please let me know your thoughts…
