Final results & report

Have you ever wondered who the best runner in the club is? No? Well what about second or third best? Who else would be in the top 5? What about the V40’s? We’ve plenty of them but who would come out on top over a testing series of local races? Then there’s the V50’s. If they applied themselves and stayed injury free would Eric or Barrie emerge victorious? Or are there others lurking out there, ready to show the club what they’re made of? Then there are the ladies of course. If you, like me, often lay awake at night wondering who is better – Sue or Jane, or who would claim the prize of best Vet 40 lady, then wonder no longer; the 2006 Ambleside AC Club Championship is here.

This year the format for the Championship has changed after discussions at the AGM and some suggestions by club members. There are 10 races in the series and I have tried to ensure a variety and included two Tuesday night races – Two Riggs and Coledale Horseshoe. On these nights the club runs will be from these venues so you might as well do the races!! Also included in the championship is the club orienteering event which I will organise on 18th April – more details to follow on this website.

You can complete ANY FIVE races from the ten.*** If you do more than five races the best five points scores will count. The point scoring system will work exactly as last year – 1st 11pts, 2nd 9pts, 3rd 8pts…….to 10th 1pt. The age categories will also be as in past years – Men Open, Men V40, Men V50, Ladies Open, Ladies V40.

Hopefully more people will be keen to compete in the Club Championship this year. I will set up a page on the website for results and try to put them up as soon as possible after races. They will be there for all to see, so get training for the first race at Elterwater on 23rd March. See you there.

Good luck
Dan D
