Report & RESULTS
Well done to
the category winners. In the men’s open Nick Sharp
retained his position as the club’s foremost runner with
3 wins and a maximum 33 points. After his strongest year
yet Dan Golding claimed second with a win at Coniston
and good runs at Buttermere and wansfell. Jon Deegan was
not far behind in third after stirling performances at
wansfell and Grasmere.
There was a
disappointing turn out in the vet 40 category with Dave
Owen and Stuart Shuttleworth winning one race each and
there being no clear victor. With wins at Coniston and
Langdale, Neil Walmsley took the V50 title ahead of the
evergreen Dave Ablitt.
The ladies
championship was hotly contested between Sue Wood and
Jane Leather. Sue came out on top with 3 wins at
Langstrath, Grasmere and Langdale.
The
championship has not proved to be as popular this year.
Perhaps the answer is to go back to 2 races from 3 or
maybe any 3 races from 6 but no championship races? I’ll
take a straw poll at the AGM so if you’ve any good ideas
let me know.
