The second English Championship race of the year, a mere 760 entries, 579 finishers (600 set off) and 11.75miles, 3600 feet of ascent.

It was great to see a good splattering of the old Ambleside vests among the field. Sixteen of us finished, seventeen set off. Poor Michelle was hit with shoe issues early on- Britta’s shoes completed the race, along with Britta.

After the initial melee of tightly packed bodies, we eventually strung out to greet cloud-clad tops. Unfortunately this disorientated a few (Anna and Cath!) who nearly descended down into Buttermere. Across Maiden Moor the cloud lifted to provide good running, and photo opportunities for Dan Duxbury en route to the finish. (Photos to follow soon!!) The normal banter then ensued.
