Ambleside AC AGM Report 6th December 2011

1. Apologies for absence: Cath Musetti

2. Agree the minutes of the last AGM: Agreed

3. Treasurer’s Report:

The club is registered with England Athletics as a fell only club, which saves money. Anyone who wishes to run road races and is a member of the FRA, contact Roger for an EA number, or if not in the FRA he will register you with EA, at a small charge to the club. In practice, registration cards are rarely checked at races.

There have been a number of costs as well as some income associated with the establishment of Ambleside Juniors this year. The Health Centre has made a £300 donation. Training courses for the junior coaches will cost several hundred pounds.

The main income for the club has come from the three biggest races that AAC organises: Fairfield, Langdale and 3 Shires.

Subscriptions will stay at £10. Please set up a direct debit if possible. Details from the treasurer, Roger Bell. 015394 32730

4. Mens’ Captain’s Report: Ian Barnes

6th in the English. Ben Abdelnoor 4th and gained his England vest. 4th in the Ian Hodgson Relays with the V40 team first in that category.

Prizes will be presented at the club dinner.

7. London Marathon club entry

The club had just one guaranteed entry for 2012, and it will be allocated soon.

8. Achievement Awards

There were lots of nominations, especially in the female category, and a secret vote was taken. Results and presentations at the club dinner.

9. Ambleside Juniors Report

The juniors was set up this year and has proved to be very popular, giving structured sessions for juniors either on the slopes of Todd Crag or on the Rugby pitch and in the sports hall in winter. Kate Ayers and Eleanor Knowles have both been on Running Fitness and Fell and Mountain Running courses and are nearly fully qualified to lead training sessions. Juniors now have club vests and are encouraged to enter races. There has been a junior club championship in the summer and it is hoped there will be good participation at the Kendal Winter League.  Full report from Kate here

10. Re-election of committee members: All re-elected except mens captain

11. Any Other Business

The Great Grizedale Trail run, organized by Britta, Helen and Tony has given a £1200 donation to Bendrigg Lodge, which runs outdoor activities for disabled children.

A suggestion that the club orders Hoodies was popular. Anna Forrest will come up with some ideas and discuss with Richard Stevens on design etc. Probably blue and green.

It was agreed that the club will increase its donation to the Rugby Club to £350pa.

Championship Races: Anna agreed to book the Burneside community minibus for travel to some races.
