25th
ANNIVERSARY THREE SHIRES RACE
AL/12 miles/4000 ft
Saturday 20th
September - 11.30am
|
We've been very lucky to arrange last minute
parking at Hodge Close Quarry about 2k from the
race venue at the Three Shires Inn. Just follow
the signs and marshalls directions. Afraid we'll
have to take another quid off you for the
privilege of a 25 minute walk in and out!
We'll delay the start to 11.30am by which time
everyone should be there. We'll have a dry-ish,
secure-ish clothing store in the race field so
you may want to bring spare kit in a distinctive
bag. It wont be much fun sorting through 250
Tesco bags to find yours!
Please follow the directions and don't try to
find your own parking space somewhere nearer.
This is a sensitive issue and the future of the
race is in your hands!
Our message has always been:-
''If you can get to Little Langdale, the race
will be on.'
This has now changed to:-
'Even if you cant get to Little Langdale - the
race will still be on!'
|
Senior Entry Fee £6 on
the day only.
Free food and drink at
the finish.

Three Shires Inn,
Little Langdale, Ambleside.

FELL RACING IS
DANGEROUS!
The Three Shires Race
is a serious undertaking. The race organisers will not
be responsible for you during this event! You should not
enter these fells unless you have the appropriate
navigation and mountaincraft skills and equipment. If
you aren’t sure what that means then please don’t enter
– you may be putting yourself at risk.
The race is run under
FRA Rules and we will check that the following minimum
kit is carried:- MAP, COMPASS, WHISTLE, FULL WET
WEATHER COVER, HAT AND GLOVES. Emergency rations are
advised.
ANNIVERSARY
2008 will be the 25th
anniversary of the first running of the Shires in 1983
when Billy Bland was the first of four Keswick runners
in the first five! We will look forward to seeing as
many 'old' runners as possible in 2008. After 20 odd
years of organising I'm looking forward to having a trot
round for the first time and getting a bit of banter
back! There may be one or two more little surprises.
