Wansfell Race 2017 Results and Race Report
A beautiful but bitterly cold dawn gave way to a bluebird day for this year’s Wansfell race: Cold, clear and bright with a Baltic wind up top (brilliant effort from all the marshals who braved the cold). Conditions were icy underfoot with most runners eschewing the famous Lake District “path ice” and opting for better grip in the frosty grass instead.
145 runners set off…and had the good grace to come back, eyes sparkling and looking the picture of health and fitness…well kind of!

This year the runners were greeted with delicious soup courtesy of Vince and his team from The Crafty Baa made on location, from scratch, proper cooking – very impressive!
I can only say how truly humbled I am to have such amazing club mates who give their time so generously to make our races the great days out that they are for runners and organisers. Many thanks to all of you; you’re quite the finest people I know:-)
